The Government of Delhi has once again asked the 525 private schools to return the extra money that they have took as ‘fees’ from the parents of the students, within a period of 15 days. The 525 private schools overcharging the parents on the pretext of implementing the recommendation of Sixth Pay commission while not doing the same at all, was notified by the committee headed by Justice Anil Dev Singh. The committee was constituted last year following the order of Delhi High Court, which so far has submitted nine interim reports to be implemented by the schools.
The Directorate of Education had previously directed the 472 schools to refund the extra amount taken from the parents within 15 days till the end of December. But till date only 43 schools have complied with the order of the body. The schools which have taken excess fee from the parents of students had said that they are taking it for implementing the sixth pay commission and paying salaries to the teachers. But, as many as 525 schools have not done the same and thus the DoE sent a directive to them.
In the communication by DoE, it said, “525 schools have been identified by the committee in its nine reports to refund excess fee charged. They are hereby directed to comply with the said reports within a period of 15 days and to submit compliance report.” The committee has submitted recommendations on 1066 schools, so far.
